Aodh Mac Murchaidh receives The Fiddler of Sitges award at El Rertiro in Sitges, with Mossie Martin.

18 year old Aodh Mac Murchaidh comes from a little village called Silverbridge in South Armagh, an area steeped in traditional Irish music. He began to play the fiddle at the age of 9 and also plays tin whistle and bodhran. He loves listening to Irish music especially the fiddlers Martin Hayes, Kevin Burke, Bríd Harper and Frankie Gavin to name a few.
Aodh enjoys meeting up with friends to play music and has had a great number of wonderful experiences playing with groups such as the Traditional Arts Partnership, his school trad group, playing duets with his good friend Jude Quigg, and much more.
Travelling to Sitges with the Traditional Arts Partnership to take part in the Sitges Creative Connexions Festival has been a real highlight in his life. Such a wonderful festival with a fantastic atmosphere and traditional music everywhere you go. And to win the inaugural Fiddler of Sitges is just a dream come true.
Aodh would like to thank all the organisers here in Sitges and also his own Traditional Arts Partnership for making it all happen.
